The Foxfield Flyer II
at The Foxfield Railway - Sunday, 30th October 2011.
The idea behind this repeat PLEG visit to Foxfield was to ride behind unusual tube profile industrial loco "Myfanwy" and explore elements of track not picked up on the first visit. This was duly achieved on both counts despite some late running caused by the wonderful visit to Crewe Heritage Centre. In fact, a few of the party scratched an extra engine (kettle) as they were deposited on the service train to play catch up!
34 people took part and travelled in two guards vans, with locos primarily top and tail. A fantastic donation of £500 was made which was very gratefully received. Discussions are underway to discuss what else PLEG and Foxfield could do together next year, including the possibility of extremely rare "tamper" haulage. Sadly we could not enjoy the bank – this remains a target for when consent is granted.
A stock list and track map highlighting track completed is below. I have to confess my spotting was limited and I did not record the locos I ran passed in the museum, for example. All additions therefore welcome to ensure fully comprehensive list is provided.
A small party enjoyed the 7.25" railway under a combination of battery and hand propulsion whilst others dashed off to Hilcote Valley – see report "The Last Minute Miniature" for further details.
